RESPIRATORY HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS IN THE CLINIC OF ORAL AND MAXILO-FACIAL SURGERY IAȘI (2011-2018)

ABSTRACT.

The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological data on respiratory healthcare-associated infections in Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery Clinic of the “Sfântul Spiridon” Emergency Clinical Hospital in Iași between 2011 and 2018. Material and methods. A retrospective study on respiratory HAI   between 2011 and 2018 was initiated at the OMF Clinic Iași . Statistical analysis of the data was performed using the SPSS 24 system. Results. The overall incidence of  respiratory infections among the 231 HAI  cases  was of 15,5 %,  6,9% for bronchopneumonia and 8,7% for tracheobronchitis. Infection incidence was higher for women and patients of 36-65 years group. Conclusions. The assessment of the epidemiologic data and the identification of involved pathogens for respiratory healthcare-associated infections is necessary for their surveillance, control and prevention.
