REASONS FOR DENTAL VISITS AMONG CHILDREN AGED 6–12 YEARS – A NARRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW –

ABSTRACT

Aim of the study The abstract of this article is to synthesize the scientific literature regarding the main reasons why children aged 6 to 12 years present to the dentist. Materials and methods The analysis highlights clinical factors (such as pain or trauma) as well as psychological, educational, and socio-economic determinants. The methodology involved a narrative review of studies published between 2010 and 2025, from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Results The results indicate that most visits are driven by dental pain, emergencies, or external recommendations, while preventive check-ups are significantly less frequent. Conclusions A systemic educational approach is needed to promote regular dental visits regardless of symptoms.
