ABSTRACT

Introduction. Gingival eviction technique in order to register impressions for single crowns is still a very debated topic. The aim of this research is to emphasize the level of training of different students from different dental schools in different countries across the globe. Materials and methods. Using the logistics of the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) located in Geneve-Switzerland we have built a data base with different e-mail adresses from dental students worldwide. We have selected 200 e-mails from dental students’ representatives from 32 countries. Results and Discussions. We can notice that in every dental school they are tought to record impressions mainly using the retraction cord. In the same time all the instructors are emphasizing the importance of eviction and we can see that almost the entire sample population of students are recording impressions using the eviction technique. Conclusions. The modern methods of gingival eviction (laser, expansyl, astringent paste) are not very popular among the students and this might be also because of economic reasons and of the university facility.
