DIGITAL INSTRUMENTS IN DENTISTRY-BACK TO THE FUTURE

ABSTRACT
There have been several recent developments in dentistry that have had a profound effect on the development and practise of the field. the positive effects of digital dentistry on the patient experience have led to its rapid adoption in contemporary dental practise. while augmented and virtual reality have proven useful in other scientific disciplines, their potential applications in dentistry have not yet been fully explored, and traditional dental practises are still widely used. the field of dentistry has been revolutionised by recent technological breakthroughs. although digital technologies have not yet become widely used in the dental field, their potential applications warrant investigation. the purpose of this study was to update the current body of knowledge, report on the ongoing advancement of ar and vr in many domains of dental medicine and education, and highlight the further research needed to translate these technologies into clinical practise.
